Anna Mavrina is native of Moscow, Russia. She will tell you that there is a story behind every piece of art, and she’s always happy to share it. Anna is a self-taught artist with a strong background in science (nuclear physics and molecular biology). She loves to explore new media and techniques in her designs.
“For as long as I can remember I’ve always loved flowers and nature. I started drawing, painting, and designing various crafts at a young age. My family encouraged me when I was a child, but as college drew near, a more practical path had to be chosen, and so I chose a major in molecular biology. But when you have a passion, sooner or later it will resurface. It came as no surprise to me that I later switched my major to fine arts.”
Anna’s daily source of happiness is making colorful jewelry that combines elements from all over the world. In her colorful designs, Anna likes to mix materials such as handmade Czech glass beads, Tibetan focal points, handmade ceramic elements, sterling silver, surgical steel, and natural stones. Yet that is only a fraction of materials that Anna enjoys using.
Anna currently works full time at her home in Richmond, Virginia. She renders custom paintings in oil.
