Betsy Kellum

OIL PAINTING + PASTEL

Betsy M. Kellum graduated from the College of William & Mary and later studied art at the Art League in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. She has studied with renowned artists Burton Silverman, Robert Liberace, Albert Handel, Doug Dawson, Qiang Huang, and others. Betsy balances her painting with a love of teaching art and has served as a juror and judge for many art exhibits and shows at local, state, and regional levels.

 

Kellum belongs to many national art societies and has achieved signature membership in the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of the West Coast (Distinguished Pastellist), the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (CLWAC), the Maryland Pastel Society, and the Southeastern Pastel Society, the Southeastern Pastel Society. She is also a juried member of the Oil Painters of America, Women Painters of the Southeast, and the International Guild of Realism. Her work has been published in the Pastel Journal, The Encyclopedia of Living Artists, American Art Collector, and was selected for inclusion in Chronicle, the history of CLWAC.

 

Betsy works in oil and pastel, presenting all types of subject matter in representational style. “In our hectic and stressful world, I look for the beauty and serenity that brings a sense of peace, with a little humor thrown in.”
