Glenda Shulleeta
MIXED MEDIA PAINTING
Glenda Shulleeta creates abstract art inspired by family, faith, and life. She is known for her portrayal of barns, churches, angels, and flowers. The vibrant colors fly off the canvas and are sometimes complemented by muted colors, taking viewers to a world that blends reality and abstract.
Glenda paints purely by memory and believes many of the most vivid and complex images that humans see are the ones in their memory’s eye, which have even more allure than anythingseen with physical eyes. Her pictures draw up old memories and influence fresh imagination.
The lifelong artist is a former award-winning art teacher and renowned interior designer, but more importantly, a wife, mother of three, and grandmother of four boys who affectionately know her as “Yaya!”
She has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Virginia Commonwealth University and earned accredited teaching qualifications from the University of Richmond.
