John Orehovec

PHOTOGRAPHY

John Orehovec is a nature photographer specializing in birds, wildlife, maritime, and landscapes. Since 1988, this award-winning photographer has been invited to participate in more than 500 shows and exhibits in 17 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada. Foremost among his exhibits include one-person shows for the National Wildlife Federation, the United States Department of the Interior (five times), and a special exhibit in the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.  A recipient of 60-plus awards, John has been a lecturer, writer, featured artist, featured photographer, and presenter of master classes in photography.

One of the questions John is most often asked is, “Is photography art?” Of course it is. Photography is a way to capture a moment in time. Most professional photographers spend lots of time and money for travel and equipment, trying to capture that special moment. The characteristics of good photography include proper lighting, pleasing color, image definition, and a composition that is appealing to the eye.  Buyers and collectors choose photographic art for the same reasons they purchase other art forms: to start or add to a collection, visual and emotional appeal, subject matter, or general interest.
