Kay Krapfl

PAINTING

Kay Krapfl was born in Dallas, Texas, and has always had a strong interest in all forms of art. Today her work is made up of ideas and techniques that she has learned through constant experimentation. She enjoys different styles of art, but the impressionistic style can readily be seen in most of her work. She works in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, and pen and ink.

Kay has had her artwork exhibited in the Mountainlair Gallery of West Virginia University, Ogelbay Institute in Wheeling, Delf Norma Museum in Moundsville and at Moutaineer Athletic Club in West Virginia. She has also exhibited her work in numerous juried shows in Iowa, Pennsylvania, Chicago, and Virginia.

Kay has won numerous awards for her work and has been featured in a 1974 exhibition program on WWVV-TV. One of her paintings was selected as “Best West Virginia in Exhibit 60” in 1978 and also won a purchase award. Her work was chosen as the poster for “An Occasion for the Arts” in 2003.

Kay has her own studio and enjoys teaching. She feels she has learned a great deal from her students and  hopes to continue to grow in her work and in her teaching.
