Lily Snow Boykin

POTTERY

Lily Snow Boykin’s work is influenced by her Japanese heritage and her environment. Her compositions are reminiscent of her family’s home in Japan, extremely visual and tactile. She experiments with a range of design, textures, and glaze applications. Her approach includes manipulating contrasting colors, shapes, and patterns to create cohesive compositions. Though Lily’s background is in painting and drawing, she found her passion in clay. The immediate, physical interaction with clay challenges her constantly to push to the next level.

In November 2017, Lily was selected to host a trunk show at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts during the opening weekend of Terracotta Army: Legacy of the First Emperor of China. Over the years, her work has been juried in numerous all-media art shows and included in the Artisan Display: Handcrafted Stories exhibit at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in December 2017. Most recent, one of Lily’s work was juried in the Workhouse International Clay Invitational 2018 (Fairfax, Virginia / August 2018 through October 2018).
