In the tradition of the Abstract Expressionists, Lisa Boardwine’s work stems from a subconscious and intuitive process. She records her energy and passions, and the works are truly an expression of the artist’s soul and experiences. Essential to the language of her painting is the layering of texture, marks, and color to create a history of surface. Travels to Italy and exposure to the sensibility of the eroding nature of ancient architecture and the stories within have influenced Lisa’s latest work. The artist builds up and tears down, excavating to recreate a sense of the mysterious through many layers of media. In this process, she cherishes the freedom she has found to experiment, express, and explore the world through her work.
