Midlothian Art Academy, located in Midlothian, Virginia, just outside of Richmond, is owned and operated by artist Robert Louis Caldwell. Robert has been instructing artists since 2010 and opened the studio in 2016.
The studio is modeled after a 19th century atelier, where assistants, students, and apprentices come to the private workshop or studio of a professional artist to learn and practice their craft. Robert believes in first building a strong foundation of skills for students and then progressing to additional techniques and media to build their knowledge of seeing and creating lines, shapes, forms, value and color. Just like fellow musicians, actors, and athletes, a visual artist must have the discipline to continually build and maintain their creative talent.
Midlothian Art Academy welcomes teen (6th–12th grade) and adult students of all skill levels. Whether you are advanced or a beginner, we offer a professional studio environment where you can learn a new technique or expand on your current talent.
The instructors at Midlothian Art Academy are professional artists working in their field and, in some cases, are former students of Robert’s.
