“Art washes away from the soul, the dust of everyday life.” — Picasso
Norma Geddes is a glass artist who lives and works in Richmond, Virginia. Her glass art is in three forms: stained glass, fused glass, and lamp work beads. After working in health care for fifty years, Geddes has found her bliss and her passion in art.
Geddes’ creates stained-glass panels, boxes, and custom windows. Her fused glass work takes the form of appetizer sets, salad bowls, a broad range of dishes, and “pot melts” made by melting glass through the holes in flower pots. Her lampwork beads are used to adorn letter openers, cheese knives, spoons, and various other utensils.
Geddes’ focus is on combining these three elements of glass art into unique art that is not functional in the utilitarian sense, but in that it functions to stir the imagination, enliven the senses, and provoke a sense of wonder and mystery.
