Peyton Millikan

DRAWING

Iconic buildings are depicted with a free handed and expressively inked line meant to evoke a sense of the place in time. Blocks of color, often applied at full intensity, give the drawings a feeling of things freshly painted and new over the old. The drawings are meant to be enough to describe a particular place, yet room is left for the viewer to fill in through memory and imagination.

Peyton Millikan was born in Richmond, Virginia. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art and art history from the University of Virginia and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design. Living from coast to coast and places in between, with frequently changing cities and landscapes, led to iconic buildings and historic places as the subject of Peyton’s work.
