"My art is a reflection of a dynamic and unifying process which gives me a great awareness of my self-identification, observations, thoughts, emotions, perceptions, and the physical world. Classically trained by my father as a young child, I continued my training, receiving an associates degree in photography from CCM and a BFA in painting from the University of New Mexico. In the past several years, I have immersed myself in a new media: fused glass. Fused glass has opened an entire new art form to me; it combines science, chemistry, and art. Using tools to cut, form, and grind the glass, the glass is then fused in a kiln with temperatures as hot as 1700 degrees. I use a combination of photography, screenprinting, painting, Photoshop, grinding tools, and methods of capturing images in the glass. Experimenting with different types of media, techniques, and forms of expression has opened up a new frontier of creating unique pieces of art, merging these diverse elements and turning them into a new, meaningful, and tangible item. In the process of selecting, interpreting, and reforming these elements, I give the viewer more than a painting, jewelry, or glass art: I give a part of myself."
